Looking to give back this summer?  Here are a couple awesome upcoming opportunities!

Looking for a great volunteer opportunity this summer? Sharing the Harvest Community Farm needs your help! Each year, the farm grows and donates tens of thousands of pounds of fresh produce to food pantries and soup kitchens throughout the SouthCoast with the help of United Way of Greater New Bedford’s Hunger Commission.

The farm is currently in full gear and WE NEED YOU! Right now is prime season for many of the crops on the farm and volunteers in large numbers are needed to help pick the produce from the fields to get them ready for delivery to those in need in our community.

Don’t let these crops rot in the fields! Help out today! Sharing the Harvest is located at the Dartmouth YMCA at 276 Gulf Road. Drop in hours are Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesday from 9-12 and 2-5, Thursday evenings from 5-7:30, and Saturdays from 9-12! This is a great family activity!

Want to learn more about the farm before your visit? Visit: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Sharing-the-Harvest-Community-Farm/373562724440

So what are you waiting for? You can register today to volunteer by clicking here or by showing up at any of the drop in hours! Hope to see you soon!

Next Friday’s volunteer opportunity has an awesome dual purpose and if you’re available, we’d love to have you help out for only two short hours.

We’re looking for volunteers to take two hour shifts on the Phoenix Bile Trail in Fairhaven on Friday, July 31stfrom 10 – 6 pm.

  1. It will be used as an opportunity to set up a “Water Stop” at the Shaw Farm Trail Head and promote the Watershed Ride as well as the Grand Opening of the Trail.  We need many cyclists and volunteers for the Ride on Sunday, October 4th and we’re hoping to interact with a lot of people on the Bike path.
  2. It is a Celebration of the Completion of the A Celebration of the Completion of the Nasketucket Bay Land Protection Project/Shaw Farm Trail Grand Opening.  The Grand Opening is at 2 pm and walkers and interested cyclists can learn about and be directed to it.
  3. This link provides a lot of information, including the exact location of this volunteer opportunity:  Just scroll down until you see “How do I get there” >http://savebuzzardsbay.org/DiscoverBay/FindAnAdventure/OurConservationAreas/ShawFarmTrail
