October is here bringing orange leaves and a slight chill in the air that promises Halloween is coming soon! Given the fact that Civic Support is an office comprised of creatives, Halloween is really one of our favorite times of year. The excuse to dress up in a costume, watch scary films and of course, eat candy make this a rather spooktacular holiday (corny, I know). That being said, last year we hosted our first ever Halloween Silent Disco in the wonderful city of Boston. The fundraising event was a huge success, prompting us to keep up the tradition this year.
Instead of traveling up to Boston this year, we are pleased to announce that we will be hosting this year’s Halloween Silent Disco in the very city our home office is located; New Bedford! Civic Support is going on its second year of operating from Downtown New Bedford, and we decided it was time to bring the party to the whaling city. If you’ve never been to New Bedford, you’ll find it’s a rather ideal location for a Halloween pub crawl. Located on the harbor, historic downtown is comprised of cobblestone streets lined by old brick and stone buildings. This year’s pub crawl will be taking us to Slainte Irish Pub, Hibernia Pub, and Cork.
What the HELLOWEEN is a Silent Disco?
If you’ve never been to a silent disco, you’re undoubtedly thinking; that pub crawl part sounds neat, but what the Helloween is a silent disco? (sorry, I just can’t seem to stop the bad puns). A silent disco is a unique way to experience music. Each participant is given a high quality set of wireless headphones which allows them to tune into music that is being transmitted exclusively for the disco. Participants can control the volume; turn it down low when you’re talking with friends, or crank it when you want to dance! The music follows us from one pub to the next, making it perfect for dancing in the streets and eliciting strange looks from passers by. Having done this four times in the past we can genuinely say that the silent disco is a blast; guaranteed to get people dancing and even singing.

Hopefully by now you are sufficiently convinced that this is an event worth checking out, but to really try to plug it one last time we’d like to reiterate that it is a FUNDRAISER for our nonprofit! For $20 not only will you get oodles of fun memories, you will also be contributing to supporting Civic Support. Our nonprofit provides outreach and business development strategies to community organizations. We partner with a variety of important community causes that range from youth programs to public health care initiates. In addition, we hire interns and provide them with real world training in the world of marketing. That’s a lot of good you can help make happen!
